Update on bargaining at AV资源

Two of the three bargaining units at AV资源 have reached agreements under the Province鈥檚 Shared Recovery Mandate.

, were fully ratified in June 2023. Vocational faculty at Camosun represented by the British Columbia General Employees鈥 Union reached a tentative agreement in April 2023.

A third agreement with the AV资源 Faculty Association will be in July 2023.

The applies to all public sector employers including Camosun with unionized employees whose collective agreements expire on or after Dec. 31, 2021.

Negotiations are focused on providing a fair and reasonable offer that includes significant inflation protection, while ensuring the provincial government has the resources to continue investing in building a stronger province for everyone.

Key priorities of the 2022 Shared Recovery Mandate include:

  • Protecting the services that people in British Columbia depend on;
  • Improving health care and preparing for future needs and challenges; and,
  • Supporting a strong economic recovery that includes everyone in B.C.

Elements of the 2022 mandate include:

  • Three-year term;
  • General wage increases:
    • Year one 鈥 a flat increase of $0.25/hour which provides a greater percentage increase for lower paid employees, plus 3.24 per cent;
    • Year two 鈥 5.5 per cent plus a potential Cost of Living Adjustment to a maximum of 6.75 per cent (Maximum 6.75 per cent triggered as of March 21, 2023);
    • Year three 鈥 two per cent plus a potential Cost of Living Adjustment to a maximum of three per cent;
  • A negotiable Flexibility Allocation of up to 0.25 per cent in years one and two to support mutually beneficial outcomes for both parties.

As of June 16, 2023, nearly 363,000 people are covered by tentative and ratified agreements settled under the Shared Recovery Mandate 鈥 which is about 92.2 per cent of unionized employees in the provincial public sector.
