Lucas Maffia (Oak Bay High/Victoria, B.C.) was named Chargers Player of the Game.
鈥淭his game and win is extra special for me and our veteran group as this is our last game as a Charger,鈥 said Maffia. 鈥淭he number one thing for us this season and coming into this game was our strong attack and service lines, which we relied on for this game.鈥
Dale MacDonnell (Belmont Secondary/Victoria, B.C.) and Maffia were named Second Team All-Stars, Brendan Folkerts (MCBI/Winnipeg, MB) named First Team All-Star, and kill-beast Eduardo Bida (Col茅gio Gabarito/Uberl芒ndia, Brazil) was named the tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP).
On Wednesday, the Chargers defeated the Providence Pilots in four sets to advance to the semi-final where they got past the Fanshawe Falcons 3-1 on Thursday.
The Chargers are the first CCAA team to win back-to-back national golds for the first time since 2016 and 2017 where the Red Deer Kings managed the massive task. This is the Chargers third national gold.
This was the final game in a Chargers uniform for senior players MacDonnell, Folkerts, and Bida.
