Pierre Lamothe, Steffen Yeates, and Andrei Tircoveanu took to the field with 14 campers. Hailing from the Canadian Premier League, the players dedicated this past Wednesday afternoon to engage with these aspiring sports stars.

鈥淲e wanted to play with the kids a little bit, organize some drills, some games and just have some fun with them,鈥 says Yeates, midfielder for the Pacific Football Club. 鈥淪occer is something I grew up loving and enjoying as a child and being able to do it professionally as an adult is a dream come true.鈥

It was a chance for the kids to play with professional soccer players, a career often not seen as attainable. And while not every kid will grow up to be a professional soccer player, Camosun offers many alternative career paths for sports-inclined kids.

鈥淚n addition to providing an alternative option for childcare,鈥 says Michelle Brown, Director of Professional Studies & Industry Training at Camosun. 鈥淥ur goal for this summer camp is to inspire kids to be active and start thinking about a potential career in sports and fitness, as well as become comfortable on campus. That is why it is a real privilege to host the Pacific FC players, and we are grateful for their support of Camosun鈥檚 Summer Camps.鈥

The campers will wrap up this week by experiencing the thrill of a professional soccer match up close and personal. Campers will accompany the Pacific Football Players on the field before the match against Valour Football Club from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
