AV资源 will celebrate the achievements of its 2020 and 2021 graduating students with virtual convocation ceremonies, June 28 and 29.

Although British Columbia is gradually working toward reopening as the pandemic subsides, large in-person gatherings are still not possible.

Over the college鈥檚 50 years, more than 65,000 students have graduated from Camosun.

This year, close to 3,000 students will graduate from the college with certificates, diplomas, bachelor degrees and post-degree diplomas in the areas of arts, sciences, business, technologies, trades, health and human services, sport education, adult basic education and Indigenous studies.

鈥淐onvocation is a time to formally acknowledge our students鈥 educational successes,鈥 says Camosun President Sherri Bell. 鈥淥n behalf of our faculty and staff, I truly wish we could celebrate together in person, but we are hopeful that next year, our graduates of 2020 and 2021 will join us for an on-campus ceremony when it is safe to do so. Until then, we want to offer our graduates a meaningful moment this month, so we encourage them to celebrate by 鈥榳alking across鈥 our virtual stage.鈥

Using a virtual platform, Camosun invites grads from 2020 and 2021 to record a photo or video clip of themselves and submit it before June 16.

The footage from all students will be edited together to create a ceremony procession, preceded by a welcome address, and streamed for graduates, their families and friends via Camosun鈥檚 YouTube channel to offer a celebratory communal event.

鈥淚f the pandemic has given us anything, it has given us all the unique opportunity to view our world from a completely different perspective,鈥 adds President Bell. 鈥淣ow is the time for Camosun alumni to put their new knowledge and technical problem-solving skills to work; to use what they have learned to better our future.鈥

Camosun graduates of 2020 and 2021 are encouraged to check the email address they provided to the college or visit camosun.ca/grad to learn more about participating and celebrating at their virtual ceremonies, June 28 and 29. Virtual cap and gown filters are also available to grads.

Graduates will receive their credentials by mail this summer.
